About us
Byzantine Maritime Corporation (BMC) is primarily a ship-management company. The success in ship-management has been built on rendering fast, honorable and reliable services to its customers and counterparties.
We can meet all of the requirements and demands of today’s Owners maintaining a fleet of quality vessels to the highest technical standards, while retaining a high degree of cost efficiency.
BMC operates a subsidiary office in New York, USA, which was structured to manage a number of vessels for Owners in their immediate geographic area. Also, we recruit our crew through our separate manning office based in Philippines. The office is responsible for recruiting, training and career development of all seagoing staff, exclusively for BMC needs.
Our global exposure is covered through the various offices worldwide and we are currently employing over 400 people.
History
BMC commenced operation in the early 1970's and since that time, we have maintained a medium to small sized Bulk Carrier fleet which serviced its customers mainly in the North American grain trades.
BMC operating history, prior to narrowing the focus on the geared sector in the early 2000s, was various sizes from small Handysize up to large Capesize Bulk Carriers.
These vessels are the culmination of the collective operating experience over the past 30 years where the company developed from a small Handysized operator to a mixed size bulker operation with Handysize, Handymax, Panamax and Capesize Bulk Carriers. The goal then was to cover the collective requirements of the cargo clients in the various North American trades as well as expanding into worldwide markets, including an operating company for fertilizer imports into Brazil, South Carrier Navigation Corporation.
Over nearly five decades, the company has purchased over 100 vessels and has supervised the construction of various newbuilding projects in Japan through its experienced in-house site team. From 2004, we have built 11 vessels in Japan (F-56 Supramax Bulk Carriers) and currently supervise an ongoing newbuilding program of 4 eco Handysize Bulk Carriers in China (Green Dolphin 41).
